I enjoyed reading your review so much that I decided to read it. I requested it from the library and I got the Kindle version before the audio so I just read it myself although I bet the audio would have been great! Now I want to cook my way through her first book. And I plan on making both the coconut cupcakes as well as the brownies for Easter.
I recently finished the memoir and I loved how clear Ina’s voice was throughout. You are spot-on, though, there is protectionism of Jeffrey and her image so definitely does not feel like a tell-all type of memoir. Still was a fun read—would have been even better with one of those cupcakes! 🧁
"For example, did everyone but me know that Chicken Marbella is pronounced 'Mar-BEY-ya'?!" — WHAT. Well, I learn something new every day!
OK, beyond that, I appreciate your honest review of this memoir. I also consider myself just a regular fan of Ina, and I've also got the audiobook on hold with my library. So, your perspective on this one has helped me manage my expectations a little bit.
Thanks! I'd be interested to hear what you think when you're done. I always love when an author reads their own book, too. I wonder how differently it comes across if you read it instead of listening.

Thank you for such a lovely comment. I’m glad I inspired some good reading. That is a fantastic dessert lineup! Whoever partakes will be very lucky.
i’m only on the first stage of learning about Ina - just one cookbook - and more so out of curiosity - enjoying very much to read more about her here
Glad you liked it!

Thanks! It definitely was a fun read, and it also had me itching to cook—and visit Paris (someday).
